The Friesian horse originated in the Netherlands and was documented in history as early as the 11th Century. William the Conqueror won the Battle of Hastings in 1066 seated on a Friesian horse. They were bred to be strong enough to pull a royal carriage but also agile and fearless to be able to carry a knight into battle. They were the horses that nobility sought after.

Friesians have changed some throughout history but their versatility, trainability and willingness to please have always remained.
Friesians can be seen in numerous equestrian sports including Dressage, Saddle Seat, Driving, English and Western Pleasure and Equitation. They are fierce competitors, fearless on the trails and loyal partners.

The powerful, majestic Friesian was a childhood dream of Kelley’s that always seemed out of reach. With hard work and determination, that dream became a reality. We both will never forget the moment we met our first Friesian. She was perfection. I was so happy and excited that I cried literal tears of joy. In that moment I knew I wanted to re-live that feeling over and over. I wanted others to feel that overwhelming sense of happiness and pride when you see and touch YOUR dream horse, YOUR unicorn, YOUR Friesian.

So along with my husband and his unwavering support, Black Gold Farm was born. A place where the jet black coats of the magnificent, supreme Friesian horses shimmer in the sun like gold. A place where dreams come true.
